Kirk, Keith and Laura: Kirk reached out to me with the news Wednesday. My heart breaks for all of you. He was the last of the “Gang of 6”. Out families shared a very special and unique bond and I will miss him- he was always so enjoyable to talk to and be around. The memories of Pickwick, Sardis, snow ski trips to Colorado (remember that van with 12 of us in it and tying the snow chains around the tires with Eric’s shoe strings to get thru the mountain pass…the harrowing ride all the wayback to Memphis in snow and your dad holding that cake most of the way back and finally at one point squeezing it in half with Dad’s driving not saying a word about it until we got back to Memphis….Memories together thru the years at Colonial Park, our family homes and special occasions- happy and sad….we were all there and I will cherish these forever. I have checked on flights but with this short notice and preexisting commitments as well as two doctors appointments Monday, TSA issues and spring break travelers (all down here it seems) I think it’s just not the best decision for me to try and travel given these issues. I am sending my love to each of you and will be thinking of each of you and our shared times Sunday. I will send a memorial in his honor to Colonial Park. I am so sad right now/ it hit me pretty good realizing it is the “end of an era” we all shared. We have had so many losses but again, I will always cherish these memories and are so glad we had the opportunity to make them. Love to each of you.
